We're just back (on Friday) from a week away in the beautiful village of Compton.
We rented a lovely place called Folly Cottage next to the Village Shop and Tea Room and just opposite the Coach And Horses pub. And aside from that, and the local recreation ground (swings! slides!) there's not a lot else there, so we used our cottage as a base to explore the surrounding areas and visit Daddy's old friend Chris who lives in nearby Petersfield with his lovely wife Sam and beautiful girls Jemima and Amalia (and their menagerie of pets!).
I feel it's worth noting that during our time away (in fact for the full 10 days off) Daddy didn't wear long trousers (er... jeans) once and only wore socks once (it rained a little on Wednesday morning) on the most fortuitous of days*.
So here's how our days went:
Friday 25 June 2010 - Compton
Arrived at around 3pm and checked out our locale picking up a few essentials from the tea room/shop.
Saturday 26 June 2010 - Petersfield
Popped into this small but pretty, historic market town (pop. 13,303) and had a wander 'round the shops before calling Chris around lunchtime to arrange a meet up, but then we bumped into the full Farrow family in the street (I told you it was small).
Spent the afternoon at their gorgeous house and hung out with the cats and rabbits and we had a lovely lunch and an ice cream (possibly my new favourite food).
After a further wander 'round town we then went back to Chris' house so I could have my tea before heading 'home' to bed. AND I got a lovely new 'pet' - a dog called Scruffy - THANK YOU Chris, Sam, Jemima and Amalia! x
Sunday 27 June 2010 - Chichester
Chichester is a lovely town with a beautiful Cathedral which has rare peregrine falcons nesting in the spire. Not a lot to report but we had a good stroll around town, a spot of lunch and then a little explore of the Bishop's Gardens where I got to run around on the grass.
Monday 28 June 2010 - Littlehampton
A lovely day out by the sea - I *think* this was my first ever sight of the sea in my life (21 months old today fact fans)! Hence I got a little wary when Mummy and I took a stroll into the shallows : )
Tuesday 29 June 2010 - Portsmouth
Today started out a little overcast with the threat of showers, so Daddy put a pair of socks on just in case it turned cold. A good move as it happens because we went up the Spinnaker Tower on the seafront and you had to *take your shoes off to walk across the glass observation window which Daddy and I did several times!
Wednesday 30 June 2010 - Arundel
Another beautiful little place with a huge castle which we attempted to get around, but had to give up after a couple of hours as I was tired and needed a sleep. Maybe next time!
Thursday - 1 July 2010 - Return to Petersfield
Our last full day and we decided to go to Petersfield once more to have a walk around the Heath Park - which gave me the chance to try out even more new swings!!
Friday 2 July 2010 - breakfast in the tearoom, time for one last visit to the park... then home. Although everyone in Compton was super-friendly, a special mention must go to our neighbour Irene (her dog Rosie) and her sister Kathleen who went out of their way to say hello and said lovely things about me to Mummy and Daddy throughout our time there! Thanks ladies... x
Night night kids,
